Samuel Bawa

He/Him

Masters of Arts in Communications Student

Samuel Bawa is a Ghanaian student currently pursuing a master's degree in communication at North Dakota State University, Fargo. This is his first year in the program. Samuel hold a bachelor's degree in Psychology and Information Studies from the University of Ghana.

During my time in Ghana, I witnessed firsthand how mental health challenges, often exacerbated by factors like single or poor parenting, poverty, and insufficient mental health education, affect my peers. Seeing classmates, with whom I once shared classrooms, struggle and sometimes lose their way due to these issues has deeply saddened me and fueled my passion for mental health advocacy. This is what has drawn me to the Heal Together Lab, where I hope to engage with experienced scholars and learn from them.

In my free time, I enjoy playing and watching soccer—I'm a Manchester United fan. I also love to read, and while I haven't had many opportunities to travel, I fancy exploring new places and meeting new people. A fun fact about me: I always say I thank God for neuroplasticity because it’s a powerful tool that allows us, as humans, to adapt and thrive in any situation or condition we face.
